As human beings, to function properly, we adapt with the fast-paced world by having systems. Our body has a way to recognize what exact activity we should be engaged in at a particular time of the day. Based on the lifestyle that we lead, our mind and body have been programmed to optimize our limited time and achieve as much. Having a system is not bad though, it got us to where we are now. Civilized, productive, successful, and preoccupied. This is the only way we roll. This is how we do it.
Not until things have to drastically change. Stores are closed, transportation temporarily ceases its operations, and people are advised to stay home. The changes are being forced into us. Suddenly, the world is paused. Systems are no longer required and time perception is altered. All of a sudden, we are no longer in control. Powerless, lost and uneasy.
What if we change how we perceive this chaos? What if we take advantage of this time to reflect and to ask ourselves, "What's so good about the normal that I'm rushing to return to it?" What if we embrace this stillness and contemplate if the life that we consider "normal" is the life that we truly desire? What if we love a little more deeply, express more openly, and just be there for each other? What if we try to dig deeper and ponder what it is we are so afraid of this time? What if we look at the sky and observe how serene it is despite what's happening?
They say that if we want some changes but scared to take the leap, the Universe will find a way to enforce the changes. It will make things uncomfortable for us. It will create a turbulence and it will put us in state of great disturbance, confusion and uncertainty. It can only get worse before it gets better.
When we didn't have the power to stop the hustle, the world made it possible for us.
It is indeed, the Great Pause.
